National Motor Museum
For an amazing day out for any motor enthusiast, the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu is a must!
There are over 250 vehicles from every motoring era, including the racing cars driven by Damon Hill and his father, Graham.
For a taste of life in the 1920s, Sunday School outings would not have been the same without the Maxwell 25cwt Charabanc, which was carefully restored and now regularly takes part in the London to Brighton run each May.
You can see Bluebird, in which Donald Campbell set a new World Land Speed record in 1964 by travelling at 403.10 miles per hour. The car is powered by a Bristol-Siddeley Proteus 4,100 gas turbine engine.
More sedate vehicles include the 1909 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost and the Humber 8HP, but the emphasis is very much on speed. There is a 1930s 4.5 litre supercharged Bentley and even famous racing motorbikes such as the 1912 Norton BS and the 1961 Honda RC 162. There are in fact 6 Ducatti Factory 996RS superbikes from 2000 and 2001 as well.
